Does NIRF rank architecture colleges separately?

Yes — NIRF publishes a distinct Architecture ranking category alongside Engineering, Management and others. We have not yet integrated that Architecture-category data; the NIRF rank shown here, where present, is the Engineering-category rank.

Is B.Arch regulated the same way as engineering?

Architecture education in India sits under its own regulatory framework in addition to the broader AICTE/UGC recognition landscape. We link to each institute's own official pages rather than asserting an approval status we haven't verified per institute.

Why does this list look shorter than Engineering or Management?

Architecture has fewer tracked institutes in our directory today because we only include one once we can confirm it runs a B.Arch programme from a primary source. We're not going to inflate the list with guesses.

Architecture on Knwdle covers Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) programmes. NIRF publishes Architecture as its own separate ranking category, distinct from Engineering — a real distinction we'd rather state explicitly than blur into one generic “NIRF rank.”

Our current dataset is built on NIRF's Engineering category and JoSAA, not NIRF's Architecture category, so a NIRF rank shown against an institute on this page is that institute's Engineering-category rank — common at IITs, NITs and other multi-department institutes that also run an architecture programme — rather than an Architecture-specific score. This is a thinner catalogue than Engineering, and we'd rather show that honestly than pad it.
