The Jamal Mohamed College commonly known as JMC is a self-financing VCRC affiliated institution started its journey in 1951 at Trichy, Tamilnadu. Established and connected with Bharathidasan University, Trichy, JMC is approved by AICTE and certified by NAAC. The college occupies 87-acre and provides 125 courses cutting across seventeen degree programs.

At present, JMC is home to 11,964 students at the undergraduate level of which 65% are male students and the rest 35% are female students. This college has 488 faculties and has done very well to rank 59th is NIRF 2024 college category ranking. JMC offers a good number of outstanding services that help to improve the student experience.

In the college, the hostels for boys and girls are different; though the Khajamian is being used to accommodate male students in a population of about 2200 the Post Graduate New Hostel accommodate female students in a population of about 1180.

The University has a central library with computerised system and inter-net facility with a collection of, more than 181115 books and bound periodicals, and it subscribed to 288 periodicals. There are favourable amenities put in place for many games such as cricket, hockey, basketball as well as athletic. The college also provides medical amenities, canteen, and a hall for rallies, conferences and alike.

Also, JMC offers the transport facilities to the women students the college has buses with more than fifteen transport facilities in the Tiruchirappalli City. JMC provides education in various disciplines and courses, the college consists of 125 courses in arts, sciences, commerce and management streams.
