Wilson College was established in the year 1832 by the Indian missionary Rev. John Wilson. It was initially established as Ambroli English School in Girgaum, Mumbai, later renamed Wilson School, and in 1836, it came to be known as Wilson College. The management of the College came under an autonomous Board of Governors in India in the year 1952.
