TBML College established in 1972 as a private affiliated college situated in Porayar, Nagapattinam District of Tamil Nadu. Situated on a 30 acre, this institutions provides 47 courses under 13 degree programmes. The College is privileged by having 1,777 student population with 68 faculty members to modify the social learning environment.

80% are undergraduate students and 20% postgraduate students with slightly more male students (54%) than female students (46%). The college caters to students who are majorly from within the state and only 4% students are from other states of India or from Tamil Nadu. It provide 47 courses .

TBML College provide facilities include libraries, dining centres, student housing, administration offices, classrooms, laboratories, playing fields, studios, theatre arts auditoriums technological centres, and music facilities. Some of them include having aseparate hostels for boys and girls, and, development of student interpersonal relationship with students from different districts.

The campus has a well-equipped gym, a library accommodation 34,000 books and 70 journals, and application based practical laboratory. Other infrastructural services include the sporting facilities, an event and seminar hall and a well equipped IT section. The college also has a health centre for first aid and a cafeteria for the students and personnel.

The academic programmes available at TBML College are diverse to encompass 28 undergraduate courses, 13 postgraduate courses, 6 doctoral programmes. Most of the courses are offered both full time and with the evening shift since students’ needs vary. Some of the main courses offered for the undergraduate degree include B. Com, BA History, B. Sc Mathematics and B.

Sc Physics whereas at postgraduate level, courses are offered in Commerce, History, Mathematics and Physics. The college also has Masters by research and Ph. Com 2 MA 2 Different procedures for the admission process in TBML College include a merit-based system, although it differs by course. The institution provides scholarships, and it is shown that the majority of students receive some level of sponsorships.

Out of 1498 undergraduate and 378 postgraduate students in the academic year 2022; 930 and 240 respectively requested for and were given reimbursement, proving readiness to make college education available to everyone.

TBML College, Porayar, provides numerous scholarships to assist students. In the 2023 academic year, many students profited from reimbursements: For undergraduate (UG) programs: 1,300 students out of 1,400 received reimbursement. For postgraduate (PG) programs: 250 students out of 275 received reimbursement.

With respect to the reimbursement percentage of nearly 93% for UG and 91% for PG, these figures uphold the view that TBML College must admit students from all sections of the society.
