SIVET College, Chennai, was started in 1966, affiliated to The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai and situated at Tambaram, Chennai. The institute occupies a total campus acreage of 27. 47 acres and has 26 courses in ten degree programmes. The colleges has a student enrolment of 3733 and faculty of 110 faculty thus making a reasonable student faculty ratio .

It has a gender diversity of its students; 51% being female undergraduate students and 57% being female postgraduate students. For instance, specialisations provided in the institute are B. Sc Mathematics , Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, B. Sc Computer Science , and Business Administration. SIVET College provides and encourages the use of modern technology to the learning process of the Students.

The library is a large two thousand square feet and it has 47000 books and has turned into an advanced electronic library having important electronic sources. The college backs enthusiastic players with considerable attention and facilitates it with play fields occupying about 3 acres to accommodate outdoor and indoor sports infrastructure.

Indoor facility provides facility to play badminton, table tennis, chess and carrom while sports grounds include cricket, football, hand ball and athletics. Also available is adequate laboratory facilities for subject like Chemistry, Zoology, Physics, and Biochemistry among others; thus allowing for practical training.

Further, SIVET College offers computer facilities with internet connection, a facility for seminars and other functions, and a cafeteria where students and members of staff are privileged to eat. SIVET college currently offers a variety of courses such as; 26 undergraduate programmes , 4 post graduate programmes and 2 doctorate programmes.

Here, the institute offers both full and part-time courses depending on the customer’s needs. Accomodating all programmes, the college population for the academic year 2022 was estimated as 3,733 students. The majority of SIVET College’s new students are admitted to the institution on the basis of their performance. In general and for most courses, admissions are given strictly on merit.
