One of the leading B-schools in Odisha, RIMS Rourkela, established in 1984, is an acknowledged management institute located in Rourkela. This co-educational institute has its campus spread over an area of 4. 01 acres of area and is providing multiple varied courses in management and technology.

Rourkela College is affiliated by RIMS and is a recognsed college under AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) that provide standardised education with up to date curriculum. The student intake in the institute is 197 while the faculty members are 24 thus making a good ration of student faculty which give more emphasis on co-curricular teaching.

Available facilities at RIMS Rourkela are commendable with an aim of improving the students’ learning facilities. The girls’ hostel is located within the campus but the boys’ hostel is located outside the campus accommodating 300 student. The boys hostel is located off the campus and is in the process of expansion.

The two hostels provide well furnished rooms with absolute basic facilities and having continuous supply of water. The institute possesses a library that boasts more than 21370 books, journals, databases and e-resources. Concerning Information Technology, RIMS has modern IT facilities with 350 PCs’ data access to the I-3 Processors and internet.

The campus also includes a modern gymnasium, an English and Communication Lab, and an auditorium that can sit 600 guests. RIMS Rourkela offers five courses offer its programmes for the full time in which there are postgraduate and undergraduate levels are available. The approved strength for the flagship MBA programme is 150 and for the MCA programme 60 seats have been approved.

Also at the undergraduate level there is BBA, BCA as well as BJMC , being the abbreviated forms of Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Computer Application, and Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication respectively. In all, RIMS Rourkela has five different courses of study across various field of specialties and the institution allows students to carve the career of their dreams.

Admissions at RIMS Rourkela are different for different courses it offers Admission. For the MBA programme, candidates must qualify in one of the following entrance examinations: Any state level entrance test of CAT , MAT, XAT , CMAT, ATMA or OJEE. To qualify for MCA, candidate have to pass either OJEE or NIMCET. For undergraduate programme as BBA, BCA & BJMC, admission can be sought through interview.

The institute also has its own entrance exams named RIMSET and offers scholarship to the first three toppers. The admission process of RIMS is open unto national level tests are recognised which includes CAT, XAT, MAT , ATMA, CMAT , NIMCET and the OJEE in addition to others. The institute has steered itself to have a diverse student population where there are 57 male students and 71 female students.

In addition, because of the college, students from different parts of India get to interact with each other; 17 percent of RIMS’ postgraduate learners come from other states.
