North East Christian University, Dimapur

North East Christian University (NECU) was established in 2013, recognised under the State Private University Act of Nagaland situated at Dimapur. It is co-educational and is situated on a vast area of land of 250 acres with diverse course offering. The NECU is an acknowledged member of the UGC and aims at offering quality education in the northeast of India.

About the programmes, the university provides 12 courses of 3 types, such as undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral degrees. NECU has 13 dedicated educators in its faculty and follows a strategy of dedicating one teacher for each student and their all round development. The university claims to have a variety of which facilitates the learning process of the students in the institution.

One prominent component is the smart classroom, embedded with smart technology and which has internet connection so that knowledge can be shared and use of video conferencing technology in e-learning. The university library is important resource centre in the academic process, containing a large amounts of literature, research materials, and multimedia.

NECU also has provided different hostel accommodation for both male and female students in order to enhance their comfort. The facility has provision to allow the students to access the internet through wireless connection throughout the campus. Also the university is built with English Lab with individual system for 25 students offering audio and video learning for language development.

In particular, NECU provides comprehensive programme portfolios to meet the demand of different study disciplines. The 12 courses on offer are full time undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes in the university. For undergraduate degree, the following courses of study are offered: BA (Hons) in Political Science , International Relations, Management , English, Computer Science, Psychology.

In the postgraduate level, NECU has Masters programme in English , Political Science and International Relations . Gaining a scholarship, the university offers Ph. D. degrees in Linguistics, International Relations , and Management for those who have a bent for research. These programsmes are meant to provided the students with extensive understanding and skills in relation to their areas of concentration.

Candidates are assessed on their academic achievement on the qualifying exams as target university or college entrance.

For doctoral programmes, the university uses Research Entrance Aptitude Test (TREAT) to select the candidates for interview. But candidates having NET /SLET/SET passes or M. Phil. in UGC recognised university can directly attend the interview without TREAT.

The university grants some relaxation in the entrance examination for the SC/ST/OBC (Non creamy layer) and the candidate with the differently abled condition or disability must secure at least 45% remarks. NECU pays attention to students’ diversity and strong educational environment which enhances students’ preparations for contemporary challenges.
