Nongtalang College, Meghalaya

Nongtalang College is an affiliated college situated inNongtalang, West Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya and was started in 1988. This college is located in a campuses with different area of 5. 93 acres and boasts a campus that assures an environment that favours learning.

It is affiliated with the National Assessment and Accreditation Council subsidised by the University Grants Commission, proving that the college is insisting on quality education. The college boasts of a student population of 128 students, and a faculty of 30, thus good student/teacher ratio, which improves the trainees’ one-on-one interactive session with teachers.

The college presents nine courses in two-degree levels with various focus within the Arts stream. Nongtalang College is proud of its facilities to support learning environment and development of students as well. The college library acts as a store house of knowledge containing numerous textbooks, reference books, journals, encyclopedias, dictionaries etc.

Students are also allowed to find previous question papers and magazines in the library’s reading hall which is well furnished with most modern facilities such as OPAC (Online public access catalogue) facilities. For those who interested in games and sports, the college offers different sports amenities to maintain exercises among the students of the college.

The institution also considers the roles of technology in current learning systems. Teaching facilities within the compound have been fitted with computers and other technology to help with teaching and learning facilities within the institution. A canteen services the college for several days or weeks to meet the minimal food requirements of the college bodies.

In addition, the college has its hostels for boys and girls in order to provide better accommodation to students who are far away from their homes. The programmes provided at Nongtalang College are mainly Arts undergraduate programmes. The college provides only 9 full time courses and all the courses fall under the Bachelor of Art (BA).

These courses come in different specialisation areas so as to meet the needs of learners who have special areas of interest. The college has been authorised to have 128 intakes in total for all the years and courses that the institutions offers to students who wish to study higher education in this college. The courses are BA , BA hons in Education , Khasi, Political Science , English, Economics , and so on.

Nongtalang College admission policy mainly uses merit and away students admission is done based on the first come first served basis. By so doing, this system also guarantees that deserving individuals stand a fair chance of being placed in the right programmes of their choice.

The CUET UG score is accepted by the college for admissions and it standardises with other colleges and universities to accept the CUET as the national undergraduate entrance examination.
