KAP Viswanatham Government Medical College came into existence in 1997 and is situated in Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu, India. It is affiliated with NMC, recognised as an affiliated college under NMC, and provides a number of medical courses. This college has a total admission capacity of 753 students and a capacity of 233 teachers, which has made for a good student-teacher ratio.

In total, responding to the needs of the 7 degree programmes, the institute offers 30 courses in medical education with various specialisations. The MBBS programme is the main programme and its capacity is 150 students; other medical-based postgraduate programs like MD, MS, and other programmes are mainly for the specialised training in the medical field. It also offers super-speciality programmes including the DM in Neurology and Cardiology. In total, the institute offers 29 courses, 7 of which are undergraduate programmes in allied health sciences.

All courses are regular, so they are intensive and concentrated, providing adequate medical knowledge. Sc 20 8 KAP Viswanatham Government Medical College follows the norms of national level Entrance exams for admitting its students. The MBBS programme admission is based on the National Eligibility and Entrance Test ( NEET-UG ) for students pursuing the programme. NEET-PG is used for admitting students into MD and MS programmes and the NEET-SS exam is used to admit the candidates to the DM programmes.

These standardised tests are admitted by the college to make sure that adequate and fair selection was made depending on merit.
