Institute of Genetic Engineering Kolkata (IGE Kolkata) was established in 2003. IGE Kolkata is one of the first colleges in eastern India to offer courses in genetics and biotechnology. IGE Kolkata courses include a mix of UG and PG programmes. Institute of Genetic Engineering is recognised by University Grants Commission (UGC) and is affiliated to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT) .
IGE Kolkata UG programmes include B. Sc courses in biotechnology , microbiology, molecular biology , medical imaging technology and medical lab technology. Institute of Genetic Engineering also offers courses in BBA, BBA(HM) BCA and optometry. IGE PG courses include M. Sc courses in genetics , biotechnology, microbiology.
