IIST or Indore Institute of Science and Technology is a private Institution with the approval of U. P. Government and was set up in the year of 2009 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Located in front of IIM on Pithampur Road, Rau, this affiliated college occupies a campus of 50 acres. It is affiliated with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and comprises engineering courses in a number of fields.
At present, the faculty of the institute possesses 109 talented teachers, thus the institute provides various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for engineering aimed to cover their possible interests. IIST has established a variety of facilities which are looking modern and which are aimed at helping the students improve the climate of learning.
It has neat and well equipped laboratories to provide practical sessions to go along the existing theoretical knowledge. A modern library named as knowledge centre contains more than 52,000 text books, approximately 1,500 video lectures along with different e- books and journals. The IT facility is established well with a 12 MBPS leased line internet facility to support the academic activities smoothly.
For students convenience, IIST having separate hostels for boys and girls, in each hostel more than 250 students are admitted with full facilities. It also has a large auditorium for seminars and other functions, a hygienically designed multi-cuisine cafeteria and a huge playground with facilities for cricket, hockey football etc.
Engineering is another area that the institute provides at undergraduate and post graduate level. It offers a total of 10 courses . Some of the well known courses that IIST offers are its BE programmes in Mechanical Engineering , Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology , Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Information Technology and Civil Engineering.
At PG level, the institute offers ME programmes in Machine Design and Computer Science and Engineering. All undergraduate programmes are four-year, full-time courses other than ME programmes that normally take two years. The admission criteria for entry into IIST undergraduate programmes are mostly founded on the participant’s performances in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) Main.
