Indian Maritime University Chennai, or IMU Chennai, is a government central university, established in 2008 through the Act of Parliament 2008. IMU courses include Diploma in Nautical Science, BSc in Nautical Science, BBA in Logistics, Retailing, and E-Commerce , BTech, MBA , and PhD in Maritime.

IMU Chennai courses are offered at diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels and the admissions are based on IMU CET examination results. Students who successfully clear the IMU CET examination should appear for the counselling rounds and confirm their seats. IMU PhD admissions are based on an entrance examination and an interview.
