Himalayan University Itanagar was established in 2013. It is a private university, established by the Government of Arunachal Pradesh. The mission and vision of the Himalayan University are to enhance opportunities for students by promoting quality education with the help of its research and development programmes.

The Himalayan University Itanagar offers diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the fields of Science, Engineering, Arts, that include are B. Sc, BTech , BA. , BA. (H), BCom, BBA. , BCA. , BSW. , BA LLB , MA. , MSc, MCom , MBA, MTech, and LLM. Himalayan University Itanagar also offers integrated programmes and distance education programmes.

Admissions into undergraduate and postgraduate at Himalayan University are based on the merit of the qualifying examination.
