Government Women’s College, Baripada, occupies a unique and prestigious place among educational institutions for women in Odisha, was founded in 1975. This affiliated college which is recognised by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) offers education for only girls. The college occupies a massive area of 7. 26 acres of land and has gazette student enrolment of 1230 and a faculty of 39 members.

As many as 26 courses are being taught in 7 degree programmes, offered by the Government Women’s College that cover arts, sciences and commerce to meet a wide range of educational goals and objectives. The undergraduate programmes are offered in the fields of arts , sciences and commerce with many majors and specialisations such as: At post graduate level, the college offers Master of arts ( MA ) course in Psychology, Education, and Home science. The approved intake capacity for all courses is 1,230 students which is an indication of the institution’s desire to offer quality education to many women in the region.
