The Government Thiruvarur Medical College, Thiruvarur also known as TMC Thiruvarur was established in the year 2010. This affiliated college is situated at Vilamal Village, Thiruvarur, Tamil Nadu and this college is spread over an area of 39. 6 acres of land. Accredited by NMC – The National Medical Commission, Thiruvarur Medical College currently has lots of medical programs it offers to its students.

With 589 students in its roll and 97 faculty members the college has a desired student faculty ratio. The institution boast of a co-educational facility with a fair distribution of the sexes; 217 male and 288 female students. 8 programmes are offered through TMC Thiruvarur, 3 degrees, including medical specializations.

The college has a rich offering of facilities that are aimed at helping improve learning and general wellbeing of learners. For those students who live in campus, there are two different hostels for boys and girls respectively to ensure that everybody has a decent place to stay. A well stocked library is the information center, containing enormous medical literature & research resources.

The university has the MBBS flagship programme admitting 100 students every year, and the different postgraduate courses such as MD and MS courses which admit between 2 to 10 students.

All our courses are full-time hence the training received by the students is intense and concentrated on matters medical. This has been evidenced by the college’s courses offered for its students such as; General Surgery , Orthopaedics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology , Paediatrics, Anaesthesiology, General Medicine among others.

Government Thiruvarur Medical College has a selective admission policy which accepts students with high performance in their secondary school examination. For MBBS course the admission is through NEET UG exam called National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. NEET PG is mandatory for all the students aspiring to join MD and MS courses to have to clear this examination first.

There is a high percentage of out of state students that are admitted on the college as the college admits 25% of out of state students.
