Government Polytechnic Narendra Nagar was founded in 1975 by the Government of Uttar Pradesh. GP Narendra Nagar is presently completely funded by the Government of Uttarakhand. It is associated with the Uttarakhand Board of Technical Education, Roorkee (UBTER) and has the approval of the AICTE and the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI).
