Government Arts College for Men (GACM Nandanam) was established in 1901, initially as a Tamil Madrasa, and later converted into a degree-granting institution. The college is UGC recognised. The college offers a range of programmes across Arts, Science, Commerce, Management, and Computer Applications, along with doctoral studies.
The college offers programmes which include 30 undergraduate, 15 postgraduate, and 15 doctoral courses across Arts, Science, Commerce, Management, and Computer Applications. Courses include BA , BBA, BCom , BSc, MA, MPhil , MCom, MSc, and PhD , in various specialisations .
Since the college is currently an autonomous college affiliated with the University of Madras , thus the courses are offered in both full-time and part-time modes, the admissions process is merit‑based, thus the candidates are admitted based on their qualifying exam scores, following guidelines laid out by the college .
