Gauhati University Institute of Science and Technology is one of the most favourite affiliated colleges in Guwahati, Assam. It was established back in 2009 and promotes co-education. The institute is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education. In the field of engineering and technology, it offers a variety of courses to the students.

Faculty strength: There are 27 dedicated professionals constituting the faculty strength, which delivers quality education to the students across 9 courses, that are introduced at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The institute concentrates on various disciplines including Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Biotechnology, and the latest area which is robotics. Gauhati University Institute of Science and Technology boasts of a rather impressive range of facilities for the conduct of its academic pursuits.

There are 97 state-of-art laboratories available on campus with high-end instruments for research and academic purposes. The treasure house of knowledge is the K. K. Handiqui Library housing about 4,500 manuscripts on various subjects and has been designated as a "Manuscripts Resource Center" by the National Mission for Manuscripts.

The facility offers Wi-Fi connectivity besides 27 well-equipped computer labs across departments for the benefit of students. The institute facilitates students in overall development. The institute provides sports facilities with two playgrounds to play football and cricket, and different gymnasiums for both boys and girls. The Institute offers a total of 10 courses through the curriculum, including B.

Tech courses and M. Tech courses. There are five B. Tech streams: Biotechnology, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Information Technology, and Robotics. All the above programmes are 4-year full-time programmes. The M.

Tech programmes offered in full time exist in four specialties: Biotechnology, Information Technology, Signal Processing and Communications, and VLSI Design and Signal Processing, both for 2 years. The total number of admissions for the B. Tech programmes in the above specialisations varies between 30 and 60 seats. In all M. Tech programmes, the intake is 18 seats.
