The Forest Research Institute Dehradun was established in 1991, and it has been approved by the UGC. The FRI Dehradun offers courses in the fields of silviculture, resource survey and management, social forestry, minor forest produce, ecology and conservation, genetics and tree propagation, and others. The scholarships are offered by the college on the basis of merit, that is, the academic performance of the candidates. FRI Dehradun scholarships are offered to those students, who secure their names in the merit list, either prepared based on the scores of the entrance test or scores in each semester.

The entrance test-based scholarship is provided at the time of admission and semester-based scholarships are provided after the performance of the candidates in each semester. The qualified students are awarded the scholarship amount every semester. Forest Research Institute scholarship amount is a 50% rebate in tuition fees. For each M. Sc .

programme, a maximum of two scholarships are awarded, one for general category candidates and the other for SC/ST. ICFRE employees’ wards are also eligible for the scholarships but on the basis of merit.
