Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth, Dapoli was established by the Government of Maharashtra on May 18, 1972, in order to provide Agricultural Education, Research and Extension in Konkan in the state of Maharashtra. The university is also known as DBSKKV. The university was formerly known as Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth and later on in 2001, on February 12, it was renamed to Dr.
Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth, Dapoli. The university also has research centres and the Regional Fruit Research Station, Vengurle and Regional Agricultural Research are among the main research centres of DBSKKV.
Thane, Palghar, Bandra, Raigad, Karjat, Mumbai, Repoli, Panvel, Shriwardhan are the North Konkan Coastal Zone jurisdictions of DBSKKV, whereas Ratnagiri Wakawali, Zadgaon, Shirgaon, Bhatye, Awashi, Sindhudurg, Phondaghat, Dapoli, Rameshwar, Vengurle, Nileli, and Mulde are the South Konkan Coastal Zone jurisdictions of the university. Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth is located at Dapoli in Maharashtra.

Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth offers a variety of scholarships and freeships for economically backward classes. Dr. BSKKV include national loan scholarships, merit-cum-means scholarships from ICAR, and post-matriculation scholarships to SC and ST candidates from ICAR. In addition, the Government of Maharashtra offers merit-cum-means scholarships.
These scholarships are designed to encourage and support students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue higher education.
