The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dibrugarh University, is a constituent college of the university that started its journey in the year 1994 at Dibrugarh, the Gateway of North East Assam. This reputed university has made its own specialities in the area of pharmaceutical education and research. Recognised by the PCI and AICTE, the department provides an umbrella of pharmaceutical programmes to the students.

The department has a faculty of 12 members exclusively committed to the training of new pharmacists as well as researchers. The institution provides 7 courses at 3 degree levels, which focus on the pharmaceutics, pharmacology, and pharmaceutical chemistry fields. The students learning at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences have access to wide facilities that have been tailored to support enhanced learning.

The department has created a well-endowed library that would arm potential students with sundry pharmaceutical literature. Modern computer-equipped and technologically advanced laboratories provide students practical training in their areas of specialisation. The department also boasts good information technology, where the students are taken through modern technologies in the pharma industries.

Measures of convenience include a cafeteria for students and staff, an auditorium for events and seminars, among others, and parking space for cars, among others. Education is also considered important, with learning facilities including a health centre that offers first aid to students. The college is a department of Dibrugarh University.

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences has designed its curriculum to provide a comprehensive package of full-time courses for different needs for education in the pharmaceutical and related fields. B. Pharma is the major programme offered by the department, a four-year undergraduate programme with an intake capacity of 40 students.

The department also offers the following postgraduate programmes: Master of Pharmacy (M. Pharma), which takes two years. Such are M. Pharma programme depends on the percentage of marks achieved in the Physics, Chemistry, and Biology streams in the higher secondary examination. However, candidates with a two-year diploma in pharmacy are also considered eligible for the entrance test. The M. Pharma programme has university/institute-level counselling of shortlisted candidates based on merit.

While formulating the entire policy, candidates who have appeared in the Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test ( GPAT ) or other equivalent examinations are preferred.
