Colonel Degree College, Sangrur

Colone; Degree College, Sangrur, started imparting education in 2009 under the approval of the Punjab Govt in Chural Kalan, Tehsil Lehragaga, Punjab, and offers both male and female education together. This affiliated college provides undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in many fields of study. Located on 4. 5 acres of land, presently the college has 487 students and 14 teachers’ faculty.

The Colonel Degree College offers 8 programmes in seven streams offering Computer Applications , Commerce, Library Science, Information Technology, and Punjabi literature courses. The institution closely focuses on offering quality education; hence, it has the cardinal responsibility to ensure its students are offered an appropriate learning environment within which they could learn effectively and enjoy themselves.

The college has a number of facilities that make up the college in order to bring a better education to the students. The library to which every academic institution boasts houses 4706 books of various fields, references, journals, and newspapers.

As much as the college embraces technology in its learning process, it has well-equipped computer laboratories complete with appropriate software, hardware, and internet connections. Others will benefit from the 200 metres of athletic track and space for football, basketball, kho-kho, and cricket playgrounds.

Academic facilities also include student health with a health centre with facilities for first aid in the college. Furthermore, there are hostel facilities for boys and girls to assure a home away from home atmosphere with all the modern comforts and 24-hour care and support. Colonel Degree College is very small as it provides only 8 courses, out of which few are full-time undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

The following courses are offered across disciplines: BCA , BA, B. Com , M. Sc. IT, MA in Punjabi & Political Science, PGDCA , and D. Lib. Total enrolment for all course offerings is 487, and course space for each course ranges from 30-100 students. For admission to other programmes such as BCA and PGDCA, the candidate is expected to have passed Punjabi at the Metric level or its equivalent.

This requirement makes sure that students have some level of proficiency in the local language as they embark on their academic journey at the college. The ability of the institution to produce HND candidates for admission also comes out very clearly, where the institution uses the performance of candidates in their qualifying examinations as the basis for their admission.

The college also has a Training and Placement Cell as a link between the companies interested in campus recruiting so as to provide student assistance in their pursuit of a job after the college to offer.
