COETA Akola was established in 1983 under the aegis of the Shri Shivaji Education Society. The College of Engineering and Technology Akola (COETA Akola) is a premier institution in Maharashtra dedicated to engineering and architectural education. The college is approved by AICTE and the Council of Architecture (COA).

The COETA Akola campus spans approximately 10 acres, providing a conducive environment for learning and innovation.

The college is affiliated with Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University and thus it is also known for the state-of-the-art infrastructure, including well-equipped laboratories, a comprehensive library, and modern classrooms, ensuring students have access to the resources necessary for their academic pursuits. COETA Akola offers full-time undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

Admission to COETA Akola is primarily based on academic merit. For undergraduate programmes, candidates must have completed HSC or an equivalent qualification and have valid scores in entrance examinations such as JEE Main, MHT-CET, or NATA for B. Arch. For postgraduate programmes like M. E. and M.

Tech, selection is based on the marks obtained in the GATE entrance examination and the percentage of marks in the UG degree.
