The Co-operative College of Education is an affiliated college and is situated in 62, Suffren Street; this institution has established itself in the field of teacher training. Recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education – NCTE, it enlightens the region with quality education. Currently the college boasts of having 9 gifted and hardworking faculty members to enhance the growth of the prospective teachers.

The Co-operative College of Education has various up-to-date facilities that are meant to facilitate effective college learning for the students. The core part of these facilities is a library containing a large number of books and other printed materials on diverse topics, as well as the periodical press.

It is an organization of resource center that aims at fulfilling the unique need of the users, to enhance on learning and research. It also boasts of the sophisticated laboratory like the Physical Science, Biological Science and Psychology laboratory. Students get practical experiences through these facilities allowing them to apply what they learn in classes or academic work of their specific areas of interest.

Based on its academic disciplines, Co-operative College of Education aims at producing quality teachers through the award of the Bachelor of Education ( B. Ed ). This is a two-year full-time course with the approved enrolment capacity of 100 students just as a way of ensuring that the institute uphold proper student-instructor ratio. The B.

Ed program is delivered as a course that prepares future educators for the knowledge, skill, and values set required for practice in the teaching profession. However, it should be noted that there is only one course offered by the college at the moment and the fact that the college specialises in teacher training is an advantage with such a course of study.

Admission policies of the Co-operative College of Education include merit basis for admission as per the state government, Union Territory administration, and the affiliated university norms. Entry requirements include the candidate’s performance in the qualifying examination and or the entrance examination.

Through this stringent and inclusive hiring mechanism, the college is assured of parading qualified candidates who equally have the capacity to produce professional teachers. A fact that manifests the college’s diversity is that it is co- educative, therefore admitting students of both sexes.
