Bhagawan Buddha College of Education was established in the year 2004 at Siddarthanagar, Malavalli Town, Mandya District of Karnataka, and it is an affiliated college. It is a recognised institute of the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) and focuses on students interested in teacher education courses. Located on a small plot of 2.
5 acres at present, this college boasts 33 students in total and 16 faculty members. Bhagawan Buddha College of Education has only one course, the Bachelor of Education (B. Ed. ), and an approval for enrolment of 100 students; therefore, it is a specialised college for education. The college is affiliated with the University of Mysore and is recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).
The college offers student learning and development services that include the following: The establishment provides for educational needs through the library and for sports needs through the sports facilities. It is well endowed with a functional and well-stocked information technology centre for the convenience of the students.
Faculty departmental laboratories provide practical training, which is an important addition to knowledge. There is a provision of an auditorium for seminars and for other related events in order to build up a more productive academic atmosphere. The college also has a cafeteria where students can find some beverages and have some meals.
There is provision of transport facilities for both the students and staff to get to the campus to ease the transport for teaching and learning. Bhagawan Buddha College of Education offers only a B Ed course, which is a two-year full-time programme. This specificity of approach enables the institution to focus and channel its resources and skills towards training teaching professionals.
The current admission capacity of the B. Ed programme is 100 students, which accredits the ability of the college to nurture a good number of potential teachers every year. Unfortunately, the data for the latest year of graduation is lacking; however, the current total enrolment stands at 33; therefore, the Up-Co can provide more individualised academic attention to each of its students.
Regarding admission procedure, Bhagawan Buddha College of Education follows the rules and regulations of the state government, the UT administration, and the university to which it is attached. They are merit-based, where the applicant is expected to present marks obtained in the qualifying year examination and/or entrance examinations.
It may also use other gatekeeping mechanisms that are recommended by the government and the college's university.
