Best Dental Science College, Madurai (BDSC), is one of the topmost dental education institutions, which was started in 2007. Situated conveniently on the Madurai-Chennai Highway, this college has the status of a co-educational college and occupies an area of 9. 87 acres.

Being an affiliated college, BDSC is recognised by the Dental Council of India (DCI), which helps the college to provide good quality dental education. 8 courses are taught by the institute across two degree levels, and the student enrolment is 366 and faculty is 184 in total. The courses offered by BDSC include periodontics, conservative dentistry, orthodontics, oral pathology, public health dentistry and others.

It has facilities which are registered to improve and supplement the learning development of students in the college. The campus comprises a boys’ hostel and a girls’ hostel for outstation students to live in and have comfort. A rich library is maintained to meet the information requirements of the institution; fully equipped laboratories satisfy applied learning requirements.

It is a privilege for the students that the college has an on-campus medical centre that provides first aid services. Concerning physical fitness, for the students of BDSC there is availability of sports facilities, including a gym. The campus also has an auditorium for occasions and seminars, and thus the campus is active in regards to academics.

Other facilities include a cafetorium, IT facilities, and transport facilities that will improve the favourable learning environment for all students. BDSC provides a number of dental courses. These are undergraduate courses and postgraduate courses. The central offer of the institute remains the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS course) that covers 100 seats.

It offers the postgraduate Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) in seven specialisations, documenting 2-3 seats in each of them. These are MDS in Periodontitcs , Conservative Dentistry, Orthodontics , Oral Pathology, Public Health Dentistry , Oral Surgery, and Oral Medicine. Thus, all courses are full-time, which allows students to complete their training intensively and focus on dental education.

The different specialisations give students a chance to be relevant to their areas of specialisation in dentistry.
