AJK Mass Communication Research Centre (AJKMCRC) was set up in 1982 and is one of the leading and recognised constituent colleges affiliated to Jamia Millia Islamia University in New Delhi. Located in a 239-acre area, AJKMCRC has made a special place for itself in the mass communication & media field. The centre has 9 courses of 4 degree programmes to meet the different fields of media and communication.
AJKMCRC has 16 dedicated professionals in the faculty to maintain a good student-teacher ratio at the college level, where the students can get one-to-one interaction with the teacher. The institute’s belief in quality is evident through physical infrastructure and courses that address the continuously evolving communication sector.
To increase its capacity to nurture a balanced and well-rounded student, AJKMCRC proudly offers a list of fully equipped facilities. The Media Library remains as one of the valuable resource centres for books, journals, videos, DVDs and other learning materials. Students also make use of the Dr Zakir Hussain Library of the university for general academics or general learning.
Its features that are really worth being proud of include a media laboratory equipped with such facilities as animation, photography and broadcast technology where students can get practical feelings.
A special eating area, a computer centre, and other recreational facilities like a kitchen, a cricket ground, a hockey ground, a football ground, a badminton court, a tennis court, and a volleyball ground make students’s lives more colourful. This is complemented with functional and well-equipped gymnasiums, auditoriums and open theatres to ensure one gets a worthwhile student experience.
The institute provides a variety of programmes flexible for students and other members; it provides full-time postgraduate programmes as well as research programmes. The course includes different specialisations in mass communication, journalism, visual effects, animation and development communication.
The seats for the entry-level MA in Mass Communication at AJKMCRC are 50, and other focused courses, which include MA Visual Effect and Animation , MA Convergent Journalism, and MA Development Communication 20 each. The centre also offers two unique postgraduate diploma programmes in Acting , broadcast technology and Still Photography and Visual Communication with an admission capacity of twenty students.
Also, AJKMCRC provides a Ph. D. degree in mass communication for scholars who are interested in specialised research in the field.
